Collaborated and led a team of student designers to create a Hybrid LMS with a Focus on Student Management for Cornerstone International Community College of Canada (CICCC), a college in Vancouver offering classes to international students.


As a capstone project, it was selected from three proposals by client, instructors, and program leadership.

To ground the project in real needs, we began by evaluating the LMS currently used by the school to identify gaps, inefficiencies, and opportunities for simplification. This phase focused on defining clear priorities to shape a functional MVP that would solve the most critical problems first.

In all methods we identified consistent issues across user types: poor intuitiveness, overly manual processes for staff, confusing navigation, missing reminders, and visual inconsistency leading to frequent user errors.

Based on these insights, we defined the MVP to focus on the highest-priority features while avoiding unnecessary complexity:

  • Student records and profiles;

  • Attendance and grading workflows;

  • Visibility of key information and reminders;

  • Admin, Instructor, and Student role-based access.

Solving the right problems

Working within MVP constraints strengthened my approach to prioritization, cross-functional collaboration, and designing around validated user needs.

Positive User Feedback

Usability testing confirmed itโ€™s a clear improvement over the previous system, with workflows optimized for Admins, Instructors, and Students.

Next Steps

If given more time, I would expand the platform with responsive views and conduct additional usability testing to further refine the experience.
